ART ATTACK!
32 local artists have donated paintings that will compete head-to-head in five rounds of competition in a real-life boxing ring! In each match the winning painting will be determined by audience response, measured by an Applause-O-Meter. The winning canvas will continue to the next round, and the losing artwork will then be put up for auction. Each successive round will have a minimum bid: $50, $75, $100, $200, and $300. The winning painting will be auctioned off for a minimum of $500. Proceeds from all auctioned paintings will benefit KDHX and South City Open Studio and Gallery.
If paintings don’t reach the minimum bid, “The Wheel of Misfortune” will determine their fate. Methods of destruction include but are not limited to chainsaw, graffiti, and ninjas. Yes, ninjas!
Art Attack! will also feature the gritty blues of Casey Reid and the bluegrass punk of The Monads in between rounds. The event will emceed by KDHX's own Dr. Jeff, and will feature The Underworld's Doug Morgan on the turntables.
